Mhow  :  Dozens of fruit trees in Phalbaug area of the town have been cut down by some unidentified people with the help of JCB machines on Wednesday night in order to develop a colony.

SDM Vijay Agrawal said that he has no information about the tree cutting in the night. SDM Agrawal said that he would take severe action if the trees would have be cut down. Panchayat secretary Manoj Sharma informed that the maintenance of the place has been handed over to the panchayat but due to lack of fund; no guard has been appointed.

More than a year ago, trees had been cut down in Phalbaug of Gujarkheda Panchayat. The active moves of media at that time forced the administration to take some action.  Gujar Kheda area was inherited property of Congress leader Benimadhav Jaiswal. Yogesh Mishra alias Munna Doctor bought the property to develop a colony. He was penaltilised with a fine of Rs 8 lakh by SDM for cutting of the trees a year ago but no proper development the case has seen so far.
