BHOPAL : The provident fund (PF) of employees would be deposited now only through internet banking. PF Commissioner, Ashwini Kumar Gupta, interacting with journalists here on Friday said several changes have been made to ensure PF members getting benefit of provident fund. The grace period of five days given by the department to deposit contribution has also been cancelled. The relaxation to institutions depositing less than 1 lakh Rupees per month to deposit PF through net banking up to December 31, has also been scrapped. Gupta said PF department is providing information of all provisions to the employers and the employees through SMS and E-mail. It has also been decided that the department would not accept any claim case if universal account number (UAN) number is not activated. He said a mobile application of the department has also been developed which could be downloaded to update oneself about information related to one’s account.

Around 2.25 lakh employees, linked to PF Organisation, Bhopal Commissionerate, have not yet activated their UANs. UANs of only 70,000 employees are active so far.
