BHOPAL : Another tiger has been found dead in Pench Tiger Reserve in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh. This is the sixth death of big cat at Pench Tiger Reserve during this year.

The four-year-old male tiger, the carcass of which was found in the core area of Karmajhiri range of the reserve, is said to have died two days ago. After the initial inspection, officials said that the reason of the death is territorial fight. The body has been sent for postmortem after which the exact time and reason of death can be revealed, said the officials.

 Range director Shubh Ranjan said that deep incision has been found on the chest, left rib bones are broken and signs of claws of another tiger have also been found.

Till now 20 tigers have died in Madhya Pradesh and this is the sixth tiger dying in Pench Tiger Reserve. Earlier, two male tigers died in January and a female tiger with two cubs was killed by poisoning in March this year.

The rise in the deaths of tigers in Madhya Pradesh has caught attention of many activists. Pushpendra Dwiwedi, wildlife activist said that the deaths are intriguing. “The death of tigers has risen due to territorial fight, which is also a matter of concern because the  reason of these territorial fights is not known properly”, he said.
