BHOPAL: The govt, considering the complaints against public distribution system (PDS) in the state, is gearing up to make private firms partners in the implementation of the PDS. The arrangement of having a lead society under Cooperatives department would be ended and the work of PDS would be given into private hands. MP Civil Supplies Corporation is going to issue tenders for private firms in place of lead society. The lead societies, working in the implementation of PDS, used to get commission and their work was to arrange supply of food grains to ration shops. Now the Corporation is going to ensure supply through private firms. Minister for food, civil supplies, Vijay Shah said there were complaints against lead societies and ration was not reaching PDS shops. That is why, a change has been made and the work has been given to private firms. Shah maintains that the Corporation would tell the selected firms about the places where ration is to the supplied by them.
