HRD minister displays his knowledge of history during Tiranga Yatra

BHOPAL : According to Union human resource development (HRD) minister Prakash Javadekar, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel were hanged by the British. He said this while addressing a public meeting in Chhindwara during the Tiranga Yatra, on Monday.

“The struggle that began in 1857 went on for 90 years…we threw out the British… Netaji, Sardar Patel, Pandit Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, were all hanged… Krantivir Savarkar and other freedom fighters took the bullet,” said Javadekar.

Javadekar has been severely criticised for getting history wrong as Sardar Patel died in 1950 while Nehru died in 1964. In the declassified files, a Union Cabinet note said that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose had died in an air crash in Taipei on August 18, 1945, amidst raging controversy over the INA chief’s mysterious disappearance.

Not only this, it is alleged that the students of six schools were forced to attend the speech of the minister. Their schools were closed and they were herded to the MLB School, where the function was held.

Congress spokesperson KK Mishra said that since the Modi government came to power, the MHRD ministry was always in news due to wrong reasons. Earlier the Smriti Irani created controversies and now Javadekar is making a joker of himself.

He said that the ministry was held by various leaders like PV Narasimha Rao, Arjun Singh, Murli Manohar Joshi and Kapil Sibbal. All these leaders were graceful and restrained. And more importantly, they knew history.
