Shahdol : Collector Mukesh Shukla has asked the officials of agricultural department to prepare a contingency plan in view of scanty rains in the district. He said that such villages should be marked out where paddy sowing has not been done and farmers should be advised to go for crops which require less water such as gram and mustard.

The collector asked officials of agriculture department to visit villages and interact with farmers. Officials were given instructions to provide mustard and gram seed to the cultivators. Mukesh Shukla, who was presiding over a review meeting here, gave instructions to all revenue officers to convene meeting of field staff of agriculture department and Patwaris and conduct survey of paddy sowing situation. He also said that farmers should be made available seeds at fair prices. It was informed in the meeting that in Shahdol district paddy could not ne sowed on about 29 thousand hectares due to scanty rainfall.
