Will impose Rs 5L fine if BMC commissioner does not present ATR

BHOPAL: National Green Tribunal ( NGT) has issued notices to principal secretaries of Urban Development Department of three states- MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan- asking them to be present personally with action taken report for disposal of Municipal Solid Wastes ( MSW). The next hearing will be on February 3.

Member secretaries of Pollution Control Board of all the three states- MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan – to present with report of MSW disposal by the civic bodies. BMC commissioner has been asked to be present with action report and progress report of landfill for proper disposal of MSW with the reference of Bhanpur trench.

In case, BMC commissioner does not turn up, NGT has proposed for punishment and penalty of Rs 5 lakh against all the commissioners from 2004.Town and Country Planning ( T& CP) Commissioner has also been instructed to be present.

Environmentalist SC Pandey said that in additional to said parties, Central Pollution Control Board zonal head has also been directed to submit their report that what they do when state units were not functioning properly regarding disposal of MSW.
