BHOPAL : IAS officer JN Malpani, who has been suspended after his audio, in which he is heard indirectly demanding bribe, going viral, approached CM Secretariat on Tuesday and vouched for his innocence.

Malpani met Principal Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains and SK Mishra, both posted at CM Secretariat, and told them that injustice had been done to him.

Malpani in a conversation with Free Press said Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Radheshyam Julania in his probe report nowhere recommended hid suspension.

According to Malpani, ACS had termed the audio conversation as doubtful and held him and Shroti guilty of misconduct. He said my 34 years of service has gone waste. Malpani said departmental inquiry could be initiated in his case but suspension was not needed.

Malpani is considering giving a representation to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan to present his view.

The officials of CM Secretariat told Malpani to present his stand after getting charge-sheet. Malpani said as many as four departmental inquiries against Shroti are on and he recorded his phone call in order to build pressure on him.

Malpani claimed that the recording was tampered with. On the other hand, Assistant Commissioner, Tribal, RK Shroti, suspended in case of taped conversation, is also claiming innocence.

Shroti maintains that he does not know the reason behind punishment as he had only exposed corruption. Sources said Shroti is considering challenging the decision of his suspension in the court.
