BHOPAL : A large number of Muslims gathered at the historic Iqbal Maidan in the walled city, here on Friday to register their protest against remarks of self-proclaimed Hindu Mahasabha chief Kamlesh Tiwari against Prophet Mohammed. An estimated one lakh protestors demanded gallows for Tiwari besides seeking a law for all those who make insulting remarks against other religions.
Madhya Pradesh Chapter of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind had given the call to protest against the right wing leader besides demanding strict legal action with an apology from him for the derogatory remarks made by him against Prophet Mohamed and Muslims. The call was supported by all the sects of the Muslims including Shia, Sunni, Barelvi, Deobandi, Daudi Bohras and others and Imams of all the sects participated in the agitation and jointly demanded death penalty from the Government of India for anyone who makes derogatory remarks against other religion and its Gods and prophets.
Tiwari was arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police in Lucknow on Wednesday night for his hate speech and circulation of pamphlets against Muslims. Tiwari claims to be acting president of Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM).
Addressing the protesters Mufti e Azam of Madhya Pradesh and renowned Islamic cleric Mufti Abdul Razzaq said, “We live in India with complete loyalty and expect the Indian laws to remain impartial and loyal towards us when it comes to our religious sentiments, especially towards our Prophet. But if the law would not provide justice to us, then it would be hard for us to remain loyal towards the law and we would have to take it in our own hands.”
Bhopal Mufti Abdul Kalam said, “We have faith in law and constitution and are hopeful that justice would be done and the person who has made derogatory remarks against the prophet would be awarded gallows.”
MP Jamiat Ulema e Hind president Mufti Ziaullah Khan said, “A person insulting Prophet Mohammed should get death sentence and we demand the same for the ABHM president”
