BHOPAL: MP Tourism Development Corporation (MPTDC) will pay a sum of Rs 19,000 for each flight of Air Taxi, which is going to resume in the state. MPTDC has planned to start Air Taxi for Indore, Jabalpur, Satna and Raipur from Bhopal. It has been decided to pay Rs 19000 as grant to Supreme Air Lines for Air Taxi.
This will put a financial burden of Rs 5 crore per year on MPTDC. Air Taxi facility was earlier provided in the state by Ventura Air Connect in the state but it could not continue for want of passengers. MPTDC used to pay money equivalent to fare of two seats to Venture Air Connect.
This time, the fare for flight from Bhopal to Indore has been fixed at Rs 2000 per person while Rs 3600 would be charged for going to Satna, Jabalpur and Raipur from Bhopal. With lack of interest in starting aviation services in the state, the state government has to provide subsidy on air services.
MPTDC, Managing Director, Hariranjan Rao said Air Taxi may soon resume in the state. He said this time subsidy is not given as per person in tenders but it is given in on flight hours.
