No matter what the state government might be claiming, but there is no improvement in the education scene in the state. At least that is what the results of the high school and higher secondary examinations conducted by MPBSE indicate. The pass percentage in the high school and higher secondary exams has fallen by one and four per cent respectively vis-à-vis last year. The results were announced on Friday.
The tribal areas have fared the worst. In Alirajpur district, the pass percentage in both the exams has fallen by over 40 per cent. Similar is the situation in other tribal districts like Mandla, Dhar and Chhindwara. In 20 districts of the state, the pass percentage has fallen in comparison with last year.
The drop is 23 per cent in Panna, 17 per cent in Singrauli, 13 per cent in Satna, 12 per cent in Sagar, 11 per cent in Morena and 10 per cent in Gwalior in higher secondary exam. As for high school exams, the drop has been 18 per cent in Bhopal. The pass percentage has declined in Jhabua, Chhatarpur, Rajgarh, Balaghat, Mandsaur and Hoshangabad districts too.
According to MPBSE chairperson SR Mohanty, the pass percentage has fallen as strict measures were taken to control copying. Not a single case of mass copying was registered in the state. According to Mohanty, a tough vigil was mounted in Morena district, which had earned notoriety for copying. He said curb on copying would lead to long-term benefits.
