BHOPAL : Goa Assembly Speaker Rajendra Parlikar, speaking at a convention of MISA detainees organised here on Friday in the city, said Madhya Pradesh played a key role in freedom of Goa. Parlikar said India attained independence in 1947 but Goa continued to be under Portuguese rule and people from Madhya Pradesh helped a lot in getting it freed from foreign rulers. He said although there were merely 50 MISA detainees in Goa but a convention of MISA detainees would be organised.
Home Minister Babulal Gaur said the BJP forming its government in Goa was an ‘eighth wonder’. Gaur appreciated Party Organisational General Secretary Arvind Menon for his contribution to party’s victory.
Gaur welcoming the members of ‘Loktantra Senani Sangh’ said it was the determination of MISA detainees which ensured restoration of democracy and people getting their fundamental rights back. Gaur alleged that Congress will never be able to remove the blot of Emergency from its face. He said Emergency was synonymous with torture and corruption.
