Ashoknagar (Madhya Pradesh): Congress candidate from Ashoknagar has filed a complaint against BJP leaders for allegedly distributing Rs 50 to ‘kanyas’ during inauguration of BJP office on Maha Ashtami, violating poll code.
The Congress candidate Haribabu Rai filed a complaint with the local administration, alleging that BJP leaders violated the model code of conduct.
According to local reports, the incident involved Sheetal Singh, the brother of BJP candidate Jajpal Singh Jajji, and Pratapbhanu Singh Yadav, also known as 'Pappu Ratikheda,' a prominent BJP worker. Both have been issued notices in connection with the alleged violation of the code of conduct.
In his complaint, Haribabu Rai pointed out the distribution of money to girls during the Kanya Pujan and questioned whether it could influence voters in the upcoming election. The timing of this incident coincided with the Assembly elections, which prompted scrutiny under the model code of conduct.
On the other hand, BJP candidate Jajji not only dismissed Congress's complaint as unfounded but also suggested that it might be a desperate move in anticipation of their defeat. He stated that Congress should clarify whether the girls who received money are voters and whether such a small amount could influence the election.
The investigation will further examine the circumstances surrounding the money distribution and its potential impact on the electoral process.
