BHOPAL : AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik said Modi government adopted the same foreign policy which the BJP had opposed when it was in the opposition and it is now trying to get political mileage through it.

“Modi government has no solid achievement on foreign policy front. The BJP had opposed the nuclear agreement with the USA during UPA governments’ tenure and brought no confidence motion against the government. It has accepted the same now,” Wasnik said in a press conference, organised to showcase failure of the Centre government at the time of completion of its one year in office.

At PCC office, the former union minister said the NDA government repacked and redesigned UPA government’s schemes whether it is Nirmal Bharat programme in the form of Swachha Bharat campaign or other programme.

Wasnik said the government slashed allocations for social sector by Rs 1.75 lakh crore in its first budget. “This is a government of and for some industrialists who are its friends and not of the common public,” Wasnik said.

Its anti-people policy would affect programmes related with scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, education, irrigation, woman and child development, panchayati Raj, health, housing and food security, he said.

The Congress would expose its false propaganda. “Agriculture growth rate has shrunk from 4.7 percent to 1.1 percent in one year, besides drastic decline in agriculture export,” he said.

“I have apprehension that Swachha Bharat campaign will be mere a slogan as BJP national president Amit Shah had said about the Modi’s statement about giving Rs 15 lakh each to family after bringing black money back.

The government had curtailed allocation for cleanliness by Rs 9025 crore”, he said. The government ensured that Rs 1.03 lakh crore subsidy did not reach the people by not bringing bill for food security for which the UPA government had brought ordinance, Cong spreading falsehoods, says Umashankar

Higher Education Minister Umashankar Gupta has said Cong had launched a misinformation campaign against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gupta said the NDA government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had not only completed its one year successfully but it has also set a new trend in development in the country and the world. Gupta alleged that Cong, unable to digest the development being brought about by Modi, is preparing for misinformation campaign. He said Mukul Wasnik cannot win the confidence of the people. Gupta alleged that Wasnik’s statement was a testimony of Cong’ negative mentality as World Bank, International Monetary Fund, USA and China are hopeful of development in India. Gupta said it would have better for Wasnik had he put the achievements of 10-year UPA rule before public and compared them with the performance of Narendra Modi in one year.
