BHOPAL : A proposal of merger of Capital Project Administration (CPA) with the public works department (PWD), which was to be tabled in cabinet meeting, faced protests of MLAs. Bhopal MLAs opposed the proposal of merger of CPA with PWD which is expected to be put up in the cabinet meeting scheduled to be held on Monday.
MLA Vishwas Sarang has written a letter to CM stating that if the CPA is merged with PWD, which is already overburdened with work of entire state like road constructions, repairing, maintenance etc, then the work like park maintenance, road maintenance which CPA does will be hampered and even quality will also be deteriorated.
MLA Rameshwar Sharma said, “PWD looks after roads construction and maintenance in entire state and such work is already exhaustive and if CPA is merged with PWD, all the work which is looked after by CPA will be hampered and ultimately people of state capital will suffer.
So CPA should not be merged.”
Similarly, a proposal will be put up in the meeting to separate environment department from Urban Administration Department, while the housing department would remain merged with UAD. Previously, UAD and Housing and environment departments were merged but now environment is being taken out from purview of the said department.
Besides, professional tax purview is being increased and a proposal is likely to be taken up in this regard for discussion in the cabinet meeting.
