Missing girl returns after 12 years

BHOPAL: A teenage girl, who was missing from her house for the last twelve years, reached her home on Thursday with the help of Delhi police.

She was brought by a police team from New Delhi where she was living in a shelter home and was said to working as child labour as she suddenly remembered that she was from Bhopal and lives at city busstand near Nehru Nagar.

The girl who has been identified as Riya ( 17) along with the police team was passing through Nehru Nagar locality, she recognised the slum area where she lived with her parents while she was four- year- old.

Chairman of Child Welfare Committee Dr KC Dubey said the girl told that at the age of four she mistakenly boarded a train at Bhopal Railway Station while begging and went to New Delhi. Here a couple kept her along with them but later sent her to a shelter home from where she continued her studies and passed 8th standard.

According to the information her aunty Karda Bai and uncle Hajilal broke into tears when they saw Riya and the girl also recognised her aunt and uncle. However the father of girl, Ella Singh who lives in Indore did not came to Bhopal to meet his daughter while the mother of girl had got married to some other guy. Later on the wish of her uncle and aunt to keep the girl with them, the Child Welfare Committee formally handed over Riya to them after some legal formalities.
