BHOPAL : A 12-year-old minor girl going to a temple at around 4.30am on Friday with her cousin sister to offer obeisance to Goddess Durga on Vijayadashami was abducted, raped and dumped in an unconscious condition at Gandhi Park under Cant Police station in Sagar.

The accused is yet to be identified. Police have declared a reward of Rs 5000 on the absconding accused and released his sketches after constituting a high level team to trace him. The victim sustained severe injuries and is in a state of shock, police said. She has been referred to Bhopal for treatment. According to Cantt police, the victim along with her 8-year-old sister was going to a temple in the wee hours, when they were intercepted by a youth who forcibly took the elder one with him on his bike. The scared yaounger girl rushed to her home and informed her parents, police said, adding that a case has been registered under sections 363, 366 and 376 of IPC against the unidentified accused. SP Atul Kumar, talking to Free Press, said, “A 12-year-old girl and her 8-years-old cousin were going to temple at around 4.30 am on Friday. A bike-borne youth came and forcibly kidnapped the elder one and made sexual assaults as medical report confirms. The victim has been referred to Bhopal for treatment. We have declared reward of Rs 5000 on accused who has not been traced out. We have also released his sketches on the basis of information given by the younger sister of victim”.
