BHOPAL : The Higher Education Minister Uma Shankar Gupta, on Monday, directed to convey the government’s disapproval of their conduct to the officers of the finance department, who absented themselves from the general council meeting of the Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Mass Communication here on Monday. Gupta was the chair in the meeting.
The major agenda of the meeting was finance-related matters and that was why the absence of the finance department officers irked the Minister..
News published in Pakistan and other SAARC countries about India shall be made available within 15 days in public domain, directed Gupta.
During the meeting it was decided that a new premises of varsity will be opened in Rewa. Earlier, the varsity has opened centres in Gwalior, Khandwa and Amarkantak. Minister for Public Relations, Energy and Mineral Resources Rajendra Shukla was also present in the meeting.
A new committee will be formed to purchase a new premises in New Delhi for the varsity. The varsity will collaborate with China’s Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication and will open a study centre in Dubai. The general council approved the appointment of Kamal Chopra as Adjunct Professor and the building plan for the varsity’s proposed premises in Bisankheri, presented by the Housing Board.
Other major proposals were also approved by the council including sanctioning Rs one crore for silver jubilee year celebrations of the varsity. The chairman of the General Council Chief Minister Shivraj Singh, has been authorised to nominate three members in managing committee and to constitute a committee for amendment in Varsity Act.
Dr. BK Kuthiyala (VC), Lajpat Ahuja (Rector) and Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi (Registrar) were present in the meeting. Members who were present included Kailash Chandra Pant, Prashant Pal, Ruchi Vijayvargiya, Dr. Himanshu Dwivedi, Umesh Upadhyay, Dr. Hitesh Shankar, Mukesh Shah, Lokendra Parashar, Dr. Shireesh Kashikar, Vishwanath Sachdeva, Gauransh Aggrawal and Kiran Shelar.
