BHOPAL : A 23-year-old bike-borne youth died after a speeding mini bus hit his bike from behind on Karond-Palasi Highway within the limits of Nishatpura police station on Friday evening. The enraged locals vandalised the bus, while the driver fled the spot after the accident.
TI, Nishatpura police station, Rajeev Jangle said the deceased has been identified as Vivek Ahirwar, 23, son of Prem Ahirwar, resident of Palasi village, within the limits of Nishatpura police station. He said that Ahirwar was going to Palasi from Karond on his bike on Friday evening around 6 pm. When he reached near Palasi Jod a speeding mini bus bearing registration number MP04 HB 9348 dashed his bike from behind. Ahirwar in a bid to save the divider couldn’t control his bike and lost balance and was hit by the bus. The collision was so intense that Ahirwar died on the spot. The incident enraged the locals present at the spot and they started pelting stones on the bus. The bus driver managed to flee from the spot. The tried to immolate the vehicle but they were stopped by the police.
Police sent the body for post-mortem examinations. Some bystanders informed the police that the incident was a result of the road rage as the deceased brought his bike at high speed and stopped it before the bus suddenly as the bus driver overtook him sometime back. The bus driver couldn’t control the bus and ran over him.
TI Jangle said that the matter was being investigated and a case was registered under section 304 A against the bus driver.
