BHOPAL : Mercury made a nose dive at the fag end of winter in the state on Thursday. There was sharp drop of 3°C in night temperature while there was 5°C drop in the last two days in the state capital. Pachmarhi recorded 3°C. Weatherman attributed the reduction in temperature to dry weather. Moisture level is also low all over the state and secondly there is no disturbance.
For the last couple of days, state capital shivered as temperature continued to reduce. Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 25.2°C which was 1°C below normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 8.7°C which was 2°C below normal.
On Wednesday, the day temperature was 24.4°C and night temperature was 11.9°C.
This pattern prevailed all over the state. Gwalior recorded a maximum temperature of 24.8°C which was 1°C above normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 6.3°C which was 1°C below normal.
According to meteorological department, temperature reduced due to change in wind pattern.
At present, the wind pattern is northern which generally infuses chill in atmosphere. The trend is likely to continue for the time being. Dry weather which is prevailing all over the state, also responsible for the reduction in temperature.
