BHOPAL: Following the death of a married woman of Pushpanagar under Aishbagh police station, her parents have blamed the police for trying to hush-up the matter. They have voiced the suspicion that their daughter has been poisoned. The woman died during treatment at Hamidia Hospital. Police have not registered any case till filing of the report. According to the police, Mohni, 35 of Jabalpur was married to Jayant Sikarwar of Pushpanagar on May 30, 2009.

For the last two years, she was living with her parents in Jabalpur as she had some dispute with her in-laws. Jayant brought her to Bhopal on May 7, 2014.  She consumed poison and she was hospitalised. She died during treatment. In the short postmortem report, poisoning has been suspected.

The parents of the deceased have alleged that Jayant was demanding a dowry of Rs 2 lakh and torturing her right from the beginning. Even after Jayant brought Mohni to Bhopal on May 7, he demanded Rs 2 lakh. On May 25, Jayant made a call to in-laws to take Mohini to Jabalpur otherwise anything might happen. And at 10.0pm, Mohini parents were informed that Mohini had consumed poison. They (parents) left for Bhopal immediately by the time they reached here, she was dead.

We are waiting for other members of Mohini’s family to arrives and then we will take decision about registering the case.
