Mhow : Many trees were cut down at the Mall road situated in Mhow cantonment area on Friday, for reported widening of roads.
These trees were planted many years ago in association with banks and social organizations. Many residents and retired service personnel come during the morning hours to get the fresh breeze flowing through these trees.
The trees were cut from military’s joggers’ park to DS01 club. The sources however revealed that the motive behind cutting of the trees was widening of the mall road.
The permissions about widening of the roads were obtained in the year 2010, but no permissions have been obtained about cutting of trees. It is said that the concerned departments will compensate the loss of trees by planting more numbers of such trees.
