BHOPAL : A 57-year-old man was duped of his gold chain and ring worth around Rs 40,000 by two conmen in front of Corporation Bank in Samardha village within the limits of Misrod police station on Thursday afternoon.
By the time the victim realised that he was robbed the conmen had left the place following which he reached Misrod police station and lodged a complaint.
Investigation officer, SI LD Mishra said victim Shrikishan Chouksey, 57, son of Narayan Chouksey, resident of Ward Number-5, Mandideep in his complaint to the police stated that on Thursday afternoon around 2.30 pm he was waiting in front of Corporation bank for a bus to go to Badi Bareli when two unidentified men approached him and started talking.
He said that he was wearing a gold chain and a ring.
During the conversation the conmen informed the victim that there were many incidents of chain snatching and loot reported in the area and that he should keep his gold chain and ring in the bag. Further the conmen won his trust and took his gold chain and ring from him and placed them in his bag. After a while both of them left the spot. When they were gone Chouksey looked for his chain and ring in the bag and was shocked to find that they were missing. Subsequently he reached the police station and lodged a complaint.
Police following his complaint registered a case under section 379 of the IPC against the two accused and launched a manhunt to nab them.
