Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Refusing to take care of an elderly mother cost five siblings dear as they landed in police net in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh.
The woman, Ramkuwar Bai, 70, had lodged a complaint at superintendent of police (SP) office in Rajgarh that she was not being taken care of by her sons.
Khilchipur police station incharge Mukesh Gaur said a case has been registered under Section 24 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, against five sons. “In her complaint, woman accused only five sons, as her two sons are jobless. Among five, four have been arrested and released on bail. Now, they are ready to pay Rs 1,000 each to the mother,” he said.
In her complaint to police, the woman, a resident of village Devakhedi under Khilchipur police station of Rajgarh district, said that she has seven sons, but all of them have settled separately. Recently, five of them promised that they would take care of her and ask her to sell lands registered in her name.
The woman told the police that she sold the land and distributed money among her all seven sons. After taking money, all of them refused to take care of her.
The police sources said among seven, three sons are government employees and settled in different places. Following woman’s complaint, the police officials had counselled her sons, but none of them get ready to take care of her.
