Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): As only 39 per cent of second dose of anti-Covid vaccine has been administered in Madhya Pradesh, the state government has decided to hold a special mega vaccination drive on Wednesdays starting from November 10.
Under it, second dose will be administered to one crore eligible people in order to achieve 100 per cent inoculation by December 31, an official said on Sunday.
Only Bhopal, Indore and Agar Malwa districts have completed 100 per cent first dose target. In all, 26 out of 52 districts have covered 90 per cent of first dose beneficiaries, official added.
State immunisation officer Dr Santosh Shukla said vaccination was low since last month due to festive season as few people visited centres. “Covid Vaccination Maha Abhiyan starting from November 10 aims to cover up the previous loss,” he added.
In MP, around 5.49 crore people are eligible for Covid vaccination including 10 per cent who are migrants (moving out of the state). Some 5 crore people have got the first dose and 2.13 crore have received the second one. Currently, 91.8 per cent have got the first dose and 39 per cent have got the second dose in the state.
"We have administered 7.13 crore doses so far. Bhopal, Indore and Agar Malwa districts have completed 100 per cent first dose target. Narsingh Gunda, a tribal village in Jhabua district, has been fully vaccinated," Dr Shukla added.
