Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A health department team was attacked by villagers when the team went to the village to collect samples for Covid-19 in Dindori district on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.
According to information, a health department team led by Multipurpose Health Worker (MPW) Devendra Patel from Vikrampur Community Health Centre went to village Imlai, where two Covid-19 patients are under home isolation.
Patel asked villagers to get their Covid-19 test done to stop the possible spread of the virus. This led to an argument between Patel and villagers. The argument turned ugly when villagers attacked Patel and his colleagues.
The health department employees, somehow, managed to escape and reached Kotwali police station and registered a complaint.
DPM, District Hospital Dindori, Vikram Singh said the health team was sent to the village for checkup of Covid-19 patients and also conduct a rapid test of villagers. “It is our responsibility to protect them from possible spread of virus,” he said.
Following complaint of Patel police have registered a case under sections 353, 294, 506, 323, 427 and 34 of IPC against six villagers.
