Morena (Madhya Pradesh): Dussehra was celebrated with gaiety in the district on Tuesday. Many people cleaned their vehicles and worshipped them.
The district police organised the main event of the festival and worshipped their arms at police lines in the presence of superintendent of police Shailendra Singh Chouhan and other officers.
After worshipping the arms, Chouhn prayed for the prosperity of police officials and gave best wishes to the people. On this occasion, people also worship their licensed arms, but they could not do so this time, because they submitted their weapons at the police stations for the ensuing election.
A gun licence holder Dhirendra Singh Jadaun said since he had deposited his gun, he could not worship it. Several houses were decked up with flowers and lights on the occasion.
Satna: There is an idol of Ravan on the premises of the police station in Kothi area of Satna district. People worship this idol every year on the occasion of Dussehra.
The Mishras who live in the Kothi area have been worshipping the idol of Ravan for 45 years. Those who worship the idol treat Ravan as their relatives.
According to Ramesh Mishra, his family members are the descendants of Ravan, so they have been worshipping him. Mishra further said when the police station was being constructed 15 years ago he dreamed that someone was breaking the idol of Ravan.
In the morning, when Mishra reached there, he found a JCB machine. As soon as the machine hit the idol, a snake came out and the operator got off the machine. Afterwards, the place for building the police station was changed.
