Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh): The doctor was absent from emergency duty at the community health centre in Khilchipur on Sunday, official sources said.
Besides, two nurses were present on duty at the health centre, sources added. The patients admitted to the hospital said that health system was crumbling.
The doctor was neither present in the morning nor in the evening, they said.
The doctor concerned reached the hospital after getting call from a nurse, that too after one hour.
As far as cleanliness in the hospital is concerned, one can see dirt on its premises. The hospital is located 19km away from the district headquarters.
The fever clinic in the hospital is in a bad state, said a patient who said he had been coughing for several days but there was nobody to take care of him.
A patient in the maternity ward Bhuri Bai said she had not given any bed cover since the day she was admitted to the hospital.
When the issue was put up before collector of Rajgarh Harsh Dikshit he said that a report would be taken from the block medical officer.
Dikshit further said that sub-divisional magistrate had been instructed to monitor the health centre and improve its condition.
