BHOPAL: The Department of Higher Education has decided to start counselling for its UG (Undergraduate) and PG (Postgraduate) ex-students, who are still unemployed. The plan that was made in the year 2019 could not take off because of the pandemic but now the department officials have decided to give final shape to it and start this academic session.
Some colleges have even started this project at their own level.
The Department of Higher Education (DHE) has asked all the colleges to prepare a list of UG and PG pass-out students. Thereafter the college staff will trace these students and try to find out what they are doing workwise.
The staff would inquire whether the ex-students were employed, or if they have taken the entrepreneurial route. They will also ascertain if the pass out students are jobless even after completing their UG or PG course.
Such unemployed students will be identified and invited for special counseling sessions. The DHE has constituted a team of counselors to guide these ex-students. Besides regular professors, some professional career counselors will also remain part of this team that will provide guidance to students and assist them in finding employment.
A separate record check is also being conducted for the girl students. In this exercise, the officials would first see how many girl students took admission in first year and how many reached in second year. If there is a gap in the number of students then the staff would try to find out if the girl has flunked or left studies midway.
They will also find out the number of girl students who got employment after completing their degree course and how many chose to become housemaker†after marriage.
