Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Saurabh Sharma, accused in a corruption case, has filed a bail application in the Special Court of Lokayukta, citing severe financial hardships faced by his family due to freeze on his bank accounts and other income sources. The application, submitted by his advocate Rakesh Parashar, states that Sharma’s family is struggling to meet daily expenses, with no money to run the household.
Sharma, co-accused Chetan Singh Gaur and Sharad Jaiswal were sent to Bhopal Central Jail after completing their remand with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday.
In the bail plea, advocate Parashar highlighted several key points to support Sharma's request for release, including his responsibility for the care of his wife, young child, and elderly mother. The lawyer also said that during Sharma’s tenure at the Office of Flying Squad and Barrier, there were no corruption complaints against him. He also contested the allegations by stating that the gold, cash and car seized during the raid did not belong to Sharma.
Moreover, he argued that Sharma was not a public servant at the time of the raid and that there was no direct recovery tied to the corruption case. The plea also pointed out that Sharma had been investing in property deals with friends, which was his primary source of income.
