BHOPAL : A group dance ‘Madhura’ based on ‘Shringar Rasa’ was one of the major attractions of the second day of the five-day grand festival ‘Lokrang-2016’on Wednesday at the open stage auditorium of Ravindra Bhawan. It is being organised by Adivasi Lok Kala Evam Boli Vikas Akademi and Madhya Pradesh Sanskriti Parishad.
Based on the fusion of folk and classical dance styles including Mohiniattam, Manipuri, Kathak, Oddisi and Bharatnatyam, the dance was directed wonderfully by eminent Bharatnatyam exponent Geeta Chandran from New Delhi. The concept of Saundarya Shastra (aesthetic sense) of Indian tradition was showcased in these five dance styles. The hour-long awesome dance won the hearts of Bhopalites. It was presented superbly by the disciples of noted Mohiniattam, Manipuri, and Kathak, Bharatnatyam exponents Jayaprabha Menon, Nandita Devi, Monisha Nayak and Geeta Chandran respectively, who also joined the performance.
It is noteworthy here that the dance was specially prepared for ‘Lokrang’ in 21days.
Moreover, some other the folk dances including ‘Bihu’ of Assam. ‘Meisang’ of Arunachal Pradesh, ‘Swan Lake’ of Belarus and dances of MP, Uttarakhand and Andhra Pradesh were presented beautifully which was another major of attraction of the audience.
They were part of the ‘Darohar’ and ‘Deshantar’ presentations. Besides the cultural performances, Children film festival, a exhibition ‘Naayika’, handloom expo and Vyanjan Mela (food fair) and other activities are also going on ,which attracting the visitors.
The festival which began from January 26, with dance drama ‘Mahabali Chhatrashal’ would conclude on January 30 with Sufi and Bhakti Gayan of well-known popular playback singer Richa Sharma and Geetanjali Rai from Mumbai and Pune.
A huge stage has been prepared for the festival, which is a replica of ‘Mastani Mahal’.
