BHOPAL : LoP Satyadev Katare hit out at State government for being careless in monitoring admissions in private dental and medical colleges, and alleged that the government is hand in glove with private institutes.
In a press conference, Katare said “The Supreme Court had asked the state to form a judges committee which would monitor admissions in private dental and medical college from the year 2005 onwards.
He alleged that instead of forming a judges committee, the government formed a monitoring committee, headed by medical education director, referring that it would continue work till formation of judges committee.
No judges committee was formed, he stated, releasing official papers in this regard. He further said that attitude of the government points out that it had a close association with private medical institutes as far as admissions are concerned.
He further stated that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on November 1, 2006, had assured in the Legislative Assembly to conduct an investigation with regards to money deals for admissions in private colleges But no further action was taken by the government despite the CM giving assurances.
After in 2007, the then health and family welfare minister Ajay Vishnoi too had assured to initiate a probe in five colleges of Bhopal district, which was to be headed by the Collector.
The Collector’s report revealed many irregularities in the medical colleges. “The government however has not taken any action with regards to the report”, he said.
“Instructions were issued to depute Deputy Collectors at examination centres of DMAT and get a detailed report from them, but nobody knows, what happened after this,”he said.
