BHOPAL : While the Govindpura police are still groping in dark to nab two bike-borne accused who snatched chain in front of the Govindpura police station on Saturday night another incident of chain snatching in broad daylight has been reported at the Ashoka Garden police station area on Sunday.
TI, Ashoka Garden police station, Mohan Sharwan said that victim Prema Vishwakarma, 45, wife of Pradeep Vishwakarma, resident of B-304 Ashoka Enclave on Raisen Road, in her complaint to the police stated that she was returning home walking along with her sister after attending a Kirtan in Punjabi Bagh area around 5.30 pm.
In the meantime, two unidentified bike-borne youth came from behind and waylaid them in front of the Sanchi Corner near Gurudwara and the one riding pillion snatched her gold chain weighing 40 grams and escaped from the spot. The woman was left shocked after the incident. She raised an alarm but till then both the accused had vanished.
The victim is an assistant grade-3 clerk at Vindhayachal Bhawan while her husband is a medical supplier. The looted chain was said to be worth around Rs 1 lakh. She couldn’t see the registration number of the bike. Police following her complaint registered a case on charges of loot against the unidentified accused and started investigations. The cops cordoned off the whole area but there was no trace of the accused.
Earlier, in the chain snatching incident that happened on Saturday night in front of Govindpura police station, two unidentified bike-borne youth snatched a 25gr-gold chain from the neck of a woman who was going on a scooter along with her husband and was holding her two-year-old baby in her arm. In the hassle with looters the victims fell down from their scooter and sustained severe injuries.
According to Govindpura police the victim woman Deepika Sinha, wife of Shubhankar Sinha, resident of B-Sector, Govindpura was intercepted by two unidentified bike-borne youth in front of Govindpura and they fled after snatching her gold chain, worth around Rs 60,000.
Police however tried to downplay the incident as it happened in front of the police station. Later a case was filed against the unidentified accused and search was on to nab them.
