BHOPAL: A Lok Adalat will be held on Saturday to settle compoundable criminal cases. Lok Adalats are being held on every second Saturday for the past few months on cases of specific nature. The cases which are likely to be settled include uttering words with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person, wrongfully restraining or confining any person, mischief, when the only loss or damage is to a private person., criminal trespass and house trespass, adultery, defamation, criminal intimidation except when the offence is punishable with imprisonment for seven years etc. Cases at pre-litigation stage and those pending in courts are being taken up for settlement in these Lok Adalats.
The aim is to reduce pendency, by resolving issues wherever settlements are possible to prevent additional litigation swathing the courts. There will be no further appeal in the matters settled.
