BHOPAL : Differences within the State Congress surfaced again on Monday as MPCC vice- president Laxman Singh, brother of senior leader Digvijay Singh, and flayed leader of opposition Satyadev Katare’s decision to hold demonstration outside chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s residence on November 1 – the state’s foundation day. The demo is planned to protest against not providing details of candidates selected in transport constables’ recruitment scam.
Laxman also raised finger at the experiment of shadow cabinet, which the LoP introduced in the Congress legislative party, terming it as irrelevant. Katare however, said he did not care and would hold the demonstration along with Congress MLAs as announced.
The vice- president told media persons at PCC that the LoP should reconsider his decision to hold protest on the day of state’s establishment and should join the developmental effort.
He said he would discuss the issue with him.
Formation of shadow cabinet was irrelevant and did not provide opportunity to MLAs to prepare for debate on all subjects, he said, adding that MLAs should be given a free hand, without confining them to only certain departments.
In last budget session, LoP Katare had introduced the system, describing it as the first in the country and now plans to review it in the forthcoming CLP meeting on October 31.
Katare however, played down Laxman’s objection and said the system was introduced to assign responsibilities to party MLAs to participate in debates on departments of their interest.
