Khargone : The workers of the Avanti Soot Mill have not been provided with their wages for past 13 years. Due to this, around 130 workers declared an indefinite hunger strike in front of the labour department of the mill. As per the information given by the laboures Gangaprasad and Om Prakash, they had worked in the Awanti Mill from 1979 to 2001. The mill got shut in the year 2001. They were paid wages for only 10 months and the rest still waits.

As per the laborers, the then manager, Brajesh Sikarwar and head time keeper, Girvir Solanki have counterfeited them. They further said that the laborers were provided with the VRS and gratuity without detailing them about the past tenure. It may also be noted that the officers are demanding bribe for the settlement of the salary accounts of the labourers. However, the laborers refused to offer bribe and hence their salary was blocked. It may be noted that the hunger strike was declared previously also, when 110 laborers declared went on a hunger strike. The officers of the laborer department promised the workers then, that they shall be provided with the wages within 11 days. However, no salary was distributed even after six months of the promise. According to the information received, the laborers are quite firm and they will not accept any fake promises this time.
