BHOPAL: A deep depression, which was over Bay of Bengal, on Thursday, intensified into a cyclonic storm ‘Komen’, with the weatherman forecasting heavy rains in East and north-eastern MP over the next couple of days. However, there is no such system over western region. Director Meteorological department Dr Anupam Kashyapi said, “Bay of Bengal system has intensified into Komen cyclone, which is expected to move first towards north-west and then west-north-west. And when it starts moving towards west-north-west, it will precipitate over East MP.”He said, “The deep depression over Bay of Bengal will increase the rainfall activity over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha. The system will bring good showers in Odisha and Chhattisgarh during the next two days. The weather system will gradually travel across Central India and bring rain over MP and Maharashtra in the first few days of August.” “Winds with speed ranging between 75-85 kmph will carry it into West Bengal and neighbouring state Odisha’s north coasts and then it will reach MP, Dr Kashyapi added.
