Khandwa : Khandwa district of the state is poised to emerge as a major tourist destination of the country in coming years. The district by its geographical location is easily accessible besides a host of religious places lies nearby.
One of the twelve Jyotirlingas’, Omkareshwar is Khandwa district and every year lakhs of devotees come here. Being located on Narmada back waters, the Hanumantiya Island has brought Khandwa at par with Allepy, Kerala.
Only 43 kilometres from Khandwa city, Hanumatiya Island has facilities of cruise and scooters and motor boats for water sports activities. The focus on promoting water sports is quite encouraging. A ten room hotel is also coming up here.
Industrialist, Sunil Bansal says that Hanumantiya Island, Omkareshwar, Singaji Maharaj, Dadaji Dhuniwale and Asirgarh are located within 100 km of Khandwa. Dargah-e-Hakimi and Gurudwara are located in the neighbouring district of Burhanpur while Ujjain is also nearby and these attractions will certainly make Khandwa a major tourist hub.
Anil Arsani, a young businessman, says that with boost to tourism, Khandwa will have possibilities for related services, such as taxi, hotels, multiples etc.
Mangal Yadav, youth leader, says that Humantiya is a priceless gift of Mother Nature. This will be major centre of water sports in coming years.
