BHOPAL : The operation to locate the T-1 tiger in Kerwan-Kaliastot area continued on the second consecutive day on Friday. Nearly 150 personnel, including 10 officers, were deployed along with two trained elephants to locate the tiger. The operation began in the morning but it was abandoned in the afternoon with the forest department team failing to trace the elusive feline. Cages with baits were placed to trap the big cat but so far, the tiger has been successful in eluding capture.
Operation tiger was launched on Thursday. The district administration has already imposed prohibitory orders in Kaliasot and Kerwan Dam areas to check the entry of civilians. In fact, for the last 15 days, the tiger was being spotted in Kaliasot and Kewan Dam areas so NGT had ordered the district administration to impose prohibitory orders from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. After the NGT order, the district administration is maintaining a strict vigil in the area. After tracing the tiger, it will either be shifted to Panna Tiger Reserve or radio collar would be put on it.
Last month, a tiger was sported in Karond and it was transquilised and shifted to Panna Tiger Reserve. As per the forest department officials, the operation will continue on Saturday also to trap the tiger. Forest department team is constantly having a vigil on movement of tiger.
