BHOPAL : The efforts of Congress leaders to grill Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan in Vyapam scam seem to have backfired. Leader of Opposition Satyadev Katare on Wednesday gave an offer to former Minister Laxmikant Sharma, who is an accused in Vyapam scam and in jail, to join Congress party.
Katare and Congress State President Arun Yadav had gone to jail to meet Congress District President PC Sharma and other leaders. PC Sharma was sent to jail after holding demonstration against BJP National President Amit Shah. Katare and Yadav met Laxmikant Sharma in jail. Katare in this meeting offered Sharma to join Congress. Katare also told journalists that they have asked Sharma to give information to CBI freely. .
On the other hand, the act of Katare and Yadav has made several Congress leaders annoyed. Several cases have been registered against Laxmikant Sharma in Vyapam case and he is in jail for a year. The statement given by duo leaders on inviting Sharma in Congress may weaken party’s agitation. According to sources, a complaint has been made to Delhi-based leaders of the party in this regard and both of them have been asked to use discretion in issuing statements.
