Duo to be away from state during LS polls

BHOPAL: The Bharatiya Janata Party national vice- presidents Prabhat Jha and Uma Bharati, who hail from the state, have been assigned jobs for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Jha has been made organisational in- charge of the party for Delhi while Uma has been made election incharge of Uttarakhand. The development has made the possibility of the duo contesting Lok Sabha elections, remote. Jha who has been elected to the Rajya Sabha recently had relinquished the charge of Andhra Pradesh a couple of days back. There are five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand and the party is eying them.

Similarly, there are 7 Lok Sabha seats in Delhi and victory in the national capital would be crucial for the party. The party’s national leadership, by assigning new responsibilities to Jha and Bharati, has forced them to keep away from state politics during Lok Sabha elections.

Their absencemay adversely impact the party’ election campaign in the state as both had played a key role in poll campaign during the recently held assembly elections. Uma, commenting on her being assigned the charge of Uttarakhand, maintains that she was born in Bundelkhand of Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand resides in her soul. She said that she would leave no stone unturned in ensuring party’s victory on all Lok Sabha seats from Uttarakhand.
