Infrastructure to be given priority over social sector

BHOPAL : In a discussion with select officers of the Finance Department on the state budget for the fiscal year 2016-17, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the budget should not increase the tax burden on the citizens.

He said that the budget should focus on Infrastructure development. A fourth supplementary budget will also be presented before 31st of March to make allocations for the upcoming Simhastha.

The budget will be bigger but the state may spend less on social sector and more on infrastructure unlike earlier years.

The budget of current fiscal was of Rs. 1.31 lakh crorers. The upcoming budget will be much bigger.

Concern was expressed over uneven rainfall in most of the parts of the state creating an agrarian crisis. The CM instructed not to increase taxes. “Even if it is not a relief budget, it shall not be a burden on citizens either”.

The CM also asked them to explore ways of increasing the revenue of the state. The officers told the CM that after the union budget, the picture will be clearer that to which sector the central government allocates greater amount.

Brave hearts who help cops to be honoured

Brave heart civilians, who have helped the police to arrest the miscreants will be facilitate on the Independence Day, the chief minister said in the Home Department review meeting on Friday. Shivraj Singh Chauhan stressed that a proposal shall be prepared regarding honouring persons who help the police to nab the culprits. A state level and district level honours will be given. He also asked dail-100 shall be more responsive and sensitive vis-à-vis crimes against women and tourists. The work between women helpline and 1090 and Dail-100 is been connecting. In the state 12 main tourist spot had been covered under Dail-100, a nodal point had instituted in these areas. He also asked to suppress the crime before it takes the shape of racket at its primary stage, he also instructed to restrain the specific type of crime at its early age, with full force. He asked to extend and incorporate the police housing corporation in other building constructions. The land of Home Guards and police department shall be pooled and a development proposal shall be prepared. He asked the use of Home Guard force and their welfare programme, he asked to prepare the new policy relating the welfare and services. He declared a remuneration of 15 days to those home guards, who had worked during the flood situation.
