The filthy nullahs which overflow in rains, dilapidated roads and slums are proving to be a major factor in the election for the north seat of the city. The infamous nullah at Teela-Jamalpura where a 15-year-old boy had drowned in the rain this year is still carries waste. The roads of these areas are dilapidated while the colonies are heavily encroached. Though, these works come under the purview of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The 13 wards of north constituency have six corporators of both congress and BJP while one corporator is an independent.
These issues will be at the back of the minds of the constituents before they cast their votes on November 28 . BJP’s candidate from the seat Fatima Siddiqui, who is seen campaigning in the area said roads and nullahs in these colonies are the manifestation of congress corporator’s negligence.
The other areas having these issues include Nariyalkheda where the nullah is hardly cleaned which is why it starts overflowing in rains. Congress corporator Najma Ansari said north constituency has maximum number of nullahs and hence it needs a separate plan. I have ensured work on nullahs and roads from the corporator funds. Our local congress MLA Arif Aqueel too has used his fund to support the development in the area, she added. She blamed BMC for being bias in allocation of funds in the wards having Congress corporators in that their files are put for pendency and liabilities.
