BHOPAL : Union budget revoked a mixed response on Monday. Corporate sector has dubbed it anti-industries while farmers have called it pro-agriculture budget. Transporters have welcomed the budget.

Central Employees Coordination Samiti president TKR Pillai said, “Income tax slab has not been increased so it is bad news for the employees. It has not been changed for 3 years now. Secondly, we had demanded to have minimum pay of Rs 26,000 for central government employees but there is no provision for it in budget. We will serve notice to government in March for mass strike on April 11. Even Railway employees will also join us in strike.”

CII chairman Girish Mangla said, “It is pro-farmers so it is good budget for their point of view.  Service tax has been increased from 14.4 per cent to 15 per cent. So it will increase the inflation as it will have direct impact on industries.”

Akhil Bharatiya Vyapar Mandal general secretary Anupam Agrawal said, “Common man will get no benefit from union budget as service tax has been increased.  The union budget is not pro-industries. Prices of all the essential commodities will increase and ultimately it is people to suffer.”

MP Truck Operators Association president Ajay Sharma said, “It is pro-transporters budget. Commercial tax has been simplified and there is provision of one time payment of all the services tax which was our demands for which we had gone for mass strike all over country. So we welcome the budget.”

Former regional director PHD Chamber of Commerce Rajendra Kothari said, “There must be equality in the states as far as union budget is concerned. There is difference in per capital income in Madhya Pradesh in compare to national per capital income. Maharashtra has 2.5 lakh kilometer roads while Madhya Pradesh which is larger one, has only 1.10 lakh kilometer roads. Similarly, average Railway line is 24 kilometer but Madhya Pradesh has only 17.6 kilometer. Madhya Pradesh has 32 per cent forest so there must be forest protection money especially to Madhya Pradesh.”
