Indore : The entire city was immersed in yoga on International Yoga Day on Sunday. Men, women, children participated wholeheartedly to make it a memorable event in the city. Practically all venues were filled to capacity and in some instances roads were also used to perform yoga.
Sunday was designated as International Yoga Day. Dussehra Maidan held the event for general public while ATPC grounds held the event for government officers, ministers and their families along with schoolchildren. There were other venues as well all over the city where the event was held.
International Yoga Committee held mass yoga at Dussehra maidan. However, rains had made the ground soggy and therefore it was shifted to Annapurna Main Road. Traffic on all roads leading to Annapurna Road was stopped by volunteers.
The general public started arriving at the venue since 6 am and by 6:30, the area was filled to capacity. As many as 70 instructors were present at the venue. Students, professionals, housewives, families, children members of social organisations etc participated in the event.
Dr Sanjay Londe began the exercise with Deergha Shwas which was followed by Tadaasan, Konasan, Kati Chakrasan, Pad Asan, Agni Asan, Nadi Shodhan, Bhastrika and Bhramari etc.
Yoga at ATPC grounds
The Yoga day was also observed at ATPC ground where state ministers, government officers, their families and other distinguished guests participated.
State minister BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and MLA Ramesh Mendola also reached the venue on bicycles.
The Divisional Commissioner, District Collector, additional collectors, commissioners, SPs, ASPs, CSPs, constables, including trainee constables, schoolchildren participated in yoga exercise. They were led by SP Manisha Pathak.
