Heavy security blanket thrown on city to prevent any untoward incident

BHOPAL : The immersion of Tazias and idols of goddess Durga passed off peacefully in the city on Wednesday. The fact that both the public events fell on the same day had made the administration and the police anxious and elaborate security arrangements were made.

There was a heavy police presence at all the major points in the city to avert any untoward incident and to ensure that the processions of both the communities pass off peacefully. In view of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on October 14, additional forces were deployed. That also had a salutary effect.

Traffic was diverted as per the plan chalked out in advance for both the processions. At many places, particularly in the walled city, the two processions passed through the same route at the same time without any problem.

Both the procession passed through the same points – Moti Masjid, Itwara, Ibrahimpura, Sindhi Colony, Royal Market, GAD Square, VIP Guest House, Gandhi Nagar, Imami Gate, Sadar Manzil and Ibrahimpura.

The procession of Tazias was taken out from Ibrahimpura to Imambara. Idols of the goddess were immersed at various notified ghats like Prempura, Kamlapati and Khatlapura etc.
