Dhar : Kanwan police led by district police superintendent Rajesh Hingankar have seized illicit liquor worth over Rs 14 lakhs and arrested two persons near here on Monday night.
According to police, Kanwan police station in-charge received an information that a truck (no. MP-09-4507) carrying illicit liquor had been moving towards Gujarat from Ujjain. Following the tip off, police swung into action and stopped the truck at Nagda-Dhar fata on Mhow-Neemuch highway. On being enquired, the truck driver said that the truck was laden with medicines. However, during checking police found 1200 cartoons of beer of Black Fort company loaded in the truck. The truck driver also failed to produce any valid permit to carry the liquor.
Police have arrested truck driver Santosh (45), son of Laxminarayan and helper Narayan (40), son of Amar Singh Patel, both residents of village Dhamanda, district Sehore (MP) and seized the large cache of illicit liquor. The seized liquor has been estimated at about Rs 14.40 lakh. The police team including TI NK Malviya and head constable Deepanchandra Chandel have been appreciated for their efforts.
