Illegal mining worth over `4.5Cr. crore unearthed in Burhanpur dist

Khaknar : A construction company which was involved in construction of a road of Dedhtalai to Burhanpur has been caught involved in illegal mining activities. Khaknar Tehsildar acted swiftly after being informed about illegal mining and has seized five dumpers including a Pokland.

The tehsildar reached on the spot after getting information from Revenue officer Rajendra Singh Panwar. The drivers on seeing the officers reach the spot fled from the scene. Four of these dumpers have been stalled in the Krishi Upaj Mandi at Tukaithad premises.

The chief project manager of the company during the action said that they had taken the permission for mining related activities and even took name of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the CM of the state. But they were answerless when the Tehsildar sought for a detailed map, which marks the areas to be mined.

The Tehsildar said that illegal mining activity in Khasra number 501 was worth around Rs 4.5 crore was spread in an area of 13.98 hectare.

The Tehsildar said that even if company shows the necessary permission papers, there has been an illegal mining worth Rs 2 crore in the area.
