BHOPAL : The IAS officer JN Malpani, who held several important posts during his service, may retire during his suspension period. Malpani was suspended in December 2015 when a controversial audio went viral. Malpani has not been given probe report and the government did not take any action in this matter further. Malpani would be retiring this month and there seems no possibility of his reinstatement.

Malpani, after his suspension, have made several efforts to meet chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He has also met chief secretary Antony de Sa in this regard twice. Additional chief secretary (ACS) RS Julania had submitted a report to the government in Malpani’s case, which led to latter’s suspension.

According to Malpani, he has made several rounds of officers for long time but it seems that his file has been dumped somewhere. Malpani maintains that despite chief secretary has not writing anything adverse about him, the probe against him has not been closed. He said he had also sought a copy of the probe report of ACS Julania but no one is ready to give that to him.

Malpani claimed that his audio conversation was tampered with. He claimed that the person who taped his conversation was himself facing several investigations. Despite this fact, his career was ruined merely on the basis of an audio conversation, he alleged. Assistant commissioner, Badwani, RK Shroti, had taped a conversation with Malpani, who was tribal commissioner, Badwani then and in the audio, Malpani was heard saying that ‘Akele Akele Khaoge To Badhajmi Ho Jayegi’ (If you don’t share what you get then you have to face consequences).

Those who go scot-free

Controversial audios came up in three cases other than Malpani but no action has been taken so far on them.
