Indore: The Income Tax Department conducted survey at the premises of jewellers and a hospital in Barwani, on Monday morning. The survey continued till late Monday night and a little over Rs 4 crore was surrendered to the department as ‘ undeclared income’. At least 20 officials led by SK Anand, Commissioner Income- Tax Circle- II took part in the survey. It was conducted on the premises of Sakhi Jewellers, Samarpan Jewellers, Alankar Jewellers, Vandana Jewellers and Sai Hospital.

The survey began on Monday morning and continued till late on Tuesday night. During the survey, huge cache of documents, evidencing tax evasion, were seized. By the time the survey concluded, the managing director of Sai Hospital surrendered Rs 1 crore as undeclared income while Vandana Jewellers surrendered Rs 1.15 crore.

Alankar, Samarpan and Sakhi Jewellers also surrendered Rs 80 lakh, Rs 52 lakh and Rs 70 lakh respectively as undeclared assets. According to Income Tax officials undeclared assets were found in the form of excessive cash, unaccounted stock of gold and silver and investments in immovable properties. The seized documents will be scrutinised to assess the actual income, the officials added.

Three builders in I- T net

OUR STAFF REPORTER BHOPAL The income tax ( IT) department conducted a survey of three builders of the city on Tuesday. IT sleuths, in the evening, surveyed Bhojpal Builders, Fortune Builders and Rai Homes and the scrutiny of documents is underway.

According to sources, IT department had got information about these builders evading taxes. The department had also found irregularities in the documents submitted by them. Sources say IT department has found tax evasion in the survey. The builders had not surrendered any money till writing of the news.
